About Scott Baker

Since 1994, Baker & Associates, a civil law firm with an A-V rating, has been headed by Scott Baker as its principal attorney. His primary area of practice is providing legal guidance and litigation services to national and regional enterprises, as well as entrepreneurs in matters concerning business, construction, intellectual property, trade secrets, and insurance. He has effectively represented his clients in trials, arbitrations, mediations, administrative hearings, and appeals. Mr. Baker also handles certain transactional matters, such as negotiating and documenting business and construction contracts, employment contracts, and covenants not to compete.

Mr. Baker began his legal career in 1985 with a Federal Judicial Clerkship for Hon. Robert B. Krupansky of the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. After that, he worked in the litigation departments of the business and entertainment firms of Weissmann, Wolff, Bergman, Coleman and Silverman, and Oberstein, Doniger and Fetter in Los Angeles starting from 1987. He is licensed to practice law in all courts in California, Ohio, and the District of Columbia.

During his career, Mr. Baker served as Chief West Coast Counsel for Agency Rent-A-Car, Inc., where he handled litigation and transactional work in various areas of law, including business, real estate, employment, insurance, advertising, and personal injury. In this role, Mr. Baker created and implemented audit and risk management guidelines, litigation cost controls, and training programs for attorneys, paralegals, and adjusters.

Mr. Baker earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration with honors from The Ohio State University and his Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. While in law school, he served on the Moot Court Executive Board. In addition, he has devoted a significant amount of his time to pro bono activities, such as serving as a volunteer arbitrator/mediator for the Los Angeles County Municipal and Superior Courts, Bet Tzedek Legal Services, and dog park and rescue causes. Mr. Baker is also a founding panel mediator for the U.S. District Court Mediation Program.
