About William Fong

As managing partner at Fong Ilagan, William Fong is board certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the State Bar of Texas Board of Legal Specialization. William is also regularly listed as a Texas Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuter consecutively from 2006-2019.

Born and raised in Washington D.C., William graduated from the University of Maryland and received his Juris Doctor degree from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University. He is a professor at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law and helped establish the first-ever ABA-approved LL.M. program in immigration law.

William is active in the immigration legal community as a national and international speaker at AILA conferences, Texas Chapter immigration seminars, and Houston section meetings. He served as the Consular Liaison for AILA Texas Chapter and speaks at IIIL immigration CLE conferences. He served three terms as the Vice-President of the Asian American Bar Association, as well as a committee member of the State Bar of Texas, Opportunities for Minorities Committee, and Committee to Elect Minority Directors. He has also been recognized by the State Bar of Texas for his immigration pro bono work. William Fong serves as an American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) employment-based immigration and ethics mentor.
