About Vivian Gallo

Vivian M. Gallo was raised in Pensacola, Florida and graduated from the University of Florida and the University of Florida College of Law. She practiced insurance defense and medical malpractice litigation in Florida and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before moving to an in-house counsel position at the University of Pennsylvania to focus on health law.

Ms. Gallo is a board-certified health law attorney licensed in Florida and Pennsylvania, and also a certified professional healthcare risk manager. She has held positions as General Counsel for Halifax Health and Miami Children’s Health System, as Deputy General Counsel for University of Florida Health and Nemours, and as Associate General Counsel for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Ms. Gallo has over 25 years experience in the healthcare industry, with an emphasis on healthcare regulatory compliance, healthcare transactions, physician contracting, facility and provider licensing, enterprise and clinical risk management, hospital operations and bioethics, sovereign immunity and public records, HIPAA/HITECH and privacy issues, corporate governance, and insurance coverage.

Ms. Gallo has served as a member and Chair of the Florida Bar’s Health Law Board Certification Committee, as committee member and Vice Chair of the Public Hospital Group of the American Health Lawyers Association, and serves as an adjunct lecturer for the University of Florida College of Law’s health law course. Ms. Gallo also provides risk management and liability claims consulting services for insurers and health systems.
