About Thomas Wochok

Tom Wochok joined the Firm in 2015 after a varied career as a trial lawyer spanning over forty five years. He is a member of the Bars of Virginia, the District of Columbia and Maryland as well as the federal courts in those jurisdictions, including the U.S. Supreme Court. Tom received his B.A. in philosophy magna cum laude from The Catholic University of America, his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Toledo (Ohio) and his Master of Laws (LL.M.), with distinction, in international and comparative law from the Georgetown University Law Center. In 2016, Tom completed an intensive professional development program in negotiation and conflict management offered by the University of Notre Dame, Mendoza College of Business, and was awarded an Executive Certificate of Achievement in Negotiation.

In 2011, Tom was inducted as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an honorary society that recognizes experienced and highly qualified trial lawyers. Fellows are selected and invited into Fellowship after being evaluated for effectiveness and accomplishments in litigation, along with ethical reputation. He is a member of several other professional organizations including the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Fairfax Bar Association, the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity International and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Tom’s career has included extensive service as in-house Counsel for several major insurance companies as well as serving these and other insurance clients in private law firm settings. His prior career has also included the representation of injured persons in negligence litigation. His civil litigation practice has focused on medical and dental malpractice, pharmaceutical liability, products and premises liability, vehicular cases, homeowner’s association cases, construction liability and nursing home cases.

In addition to his attendance at various advocacy institutes and other continuing education programs, Tom has served as the Chairman of the Continuing Legal Education Committee for a major insurance company and has been a speaker on expert witness issues and the tort of bad faith at continuing legal education programs. He previously taught a course entitled “The Legal Environment of Insurance” sponsored by the District of Columbia Chapter of the Society of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters. Tom has served as a neutral case evaluator (mediator) and as a medical malpractice panelist for the Fairfax County Circuit Court and has been a judicial candidate in that Court.

Tom’s extensive experience in state and federal trial and appellate courts, and his accomplishments on both the defense and plaintiff’s sides, will enhance our Firm’s ability to serve our clients.
