About Thomas Jacobs

Tom Jacobs is an Attorney with Cornetet, Meyer, Rush & Stapleton and has over twenty years of experience as a litigator. Areas of concentration include education law, special education law, disability law, commercial litigation, contract law, labor & employment law, and construction law.

Tom served in the United States Navy from 1983-1995 and held numerous legal positions, including, at separate times, the Navy’s Senior Prosecutor and Senior Defense Counsel for a five-state region. From 1993-1995, Tom served as the Command Judge Advocate for the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV 67), a major operational command. His military awards include the Navy Achievement Medal, Naval Commendation Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal.

Tom received his Bachelor of Arts degree (Magna cum laude) from the University of Cincinnati in 1981 and his Juris Doctor degree (With Honors) from the University of Cincinnati in 1989. He is also an honors graduate of the Naval Justice School, Newport, Rhode Island.

Tom is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Order of the Coif. His article What Tax Lawyers Need to Know About Single Member Limited Liability Companies was published in The Practical Tax Lawyer, a publication of the American Law Institute and American Bar Association.

Tom’s Special Education Law practice primarily involves the representation of disabled children and their parents. He also provides both consultative and mediation services to schools and gives presentations concerning Special Education Law throughout the Greater Cincinnati Area to parents, educators, and attorneys.
