About Steven Lodge

Steven grew up in western Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa (BA, English, 1989). As one would naturally assume, he and his wife Tami (also an Iowa grad) are unapologetic, die-hard Hawkeye fans. Aspiring teachers in a dismal employment era, they relocated to Texas after college where Steve taught English and Tami taught K-2 for a couple years. Having reached their tolerance for fire ants, crippling humidity and the smell of oil refineries, they relocated to Akron, Ohio where Steve attended the University of Akron School of Law (JD, 1994).

By operation of the mutual preference of both the stagnant City of Akron and the Lodges, they relocated one last time to the Twin Cities in 1994.

Steven began his professional legal career clerking for Hon. Robert Danforth in Sherburne County District Court in 1994. After a brief (not brief enough) transition period as an associate attorney in a small personal injury law office in Minneapolis, Steve landed in Anoka, where he joined the real estate and litigation department of what was then the Babcock, Locher, Neilson & Mannella firm. After a few years spent learning real estate law, developing litigation skills and discovering the mysteries of the real estate industry, Steven joined with Steve
Nash (then a partner at the Babcock firm) in 1999 to start the Nash & Lodge law firm, serving the unique legal needs of the real estate and business community in both transactional law and litigation.

While practicing as a partner of Nash & Lodge, Steve obtained a BV® Distinguished™ Peer Review RatingSM (which loosely translates to “pretty decent lawyer”) by Martindale-Hubbell®, the nation’s preeminent attorney rating system. He was also named “Rising Star” (which loosely translates to “pretty decent young lawyer”) by Law & Politics Magazine, and was certified as a Real Property Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association (which loosely translates to “pretty decent real estate lawyer”). He served for over eight years in the Minnesota Army National Guard and Army Reserves as an attorney in the office of the Staff Judge Advocate, and was honorably discharged in 2007 (which loosely translates to “pretty decent military lawyer”).

After 11 years in business, by 2010 the Nash & Lodge partnership had matured into distinct practice areas and the partners determined that clients would be better served by practices that complemented each other, but that were independent of each other. From that determination Steven J. Lodge, PLLC was born.

Steven is a member of the real property and bankruptcy sections of the Minnesota State Bar Association, and the Anoka and Hennepin County Bar Associations.
