About Richard Tannenbaum

Richard N. Tannenbaum has been practicing law for more than 30 years with the last 20 devoted principally to high-end divorces and contested custody cases. He has been rated “AV” since 1984 by Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review, the highest rating of integrity and competence among attorneys. He has been selected every year to the New York Super Lawyers since 2012, a distinction earned by only five percent of lawyers in the New York Metro area. He was recognized as a Top Attorney in North America – 2016 edition of the Who’s Who Directories. He was named to the Top 10 Family Law Attorneys of New York State by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys. He has also been selected as one of Long Island’s Top Rated Lawyers of 2014, 2015 and 2016 by ALM Legal Leaders.

Following his admission to the Bar, Mr. Tannenbaum devoted himself to the practice of matrimonial and family law as a partner in Tannenbaum & Tannenbaum with his father Paul H. Tannenbaum. During this same time, Mr. Tannenbaum served as a Law Guardian of the Nassau County Family Court and an Arbitrator of the Queens County Civil Court. In 1986, Mr. Tannenbaum became of counsel to noted criminal defense attorney Barry Slotnick where he worked on complex litigation as an offshoot of the firm’s criminal defense practice. In 1990, Mr. Tannenbaum remained in Manhattan and founded his own firm devoted to both commercial as well as matrimonial and family law which led, in 1997, to an association with celebrity matrimonial attorney Raoul Lionel Felder. In 2003, Mr. Tannenbaum returned to Long Island and became associated with Stephen Gassman and on August 1, 2007, became a member of the firm known as Gassman, Baiamonte, Betts & Tannenbaum, P.C. In March of 2011, Mr. Tannenbaum opened up his own firm in Garden City for the practice of matrimonial and family law serving Long Island and Manhattan.
