About Richard Stanford

Richard A. Stanford, the principal of Stanford Law Firm, is a 37-year, AV-rated lawyer, first licensed in the state of Texas in 1976. Mr. Stanford specializes in the practice of admiralty and maritime law, maritime and offshore commercial matters, and assistance in litigation and arbitration, including serving as an arbitrator.

Formerly, Mr. Stanford was a partner in the maritime, banking, and litigation sections of the Houston firm of Vinson & Elkins. Later in his career, he served as in-house general counsel for a publicly traded offshore oil & gas construction and pipelay company with domestic and international operations. Mr. Stanford also served as interim general counsel for a publicly traded offshore drilling contractor with both domestic and international drilling operations.

Mr. Stanford is a member of the Houston Maritime Arbitrators Association, the Maritime Law Association of the United States, and the State Bar of Texas.

Mr. Stanford graduated with honors from the University of Texas in Austin in 1971 and received his Juris Doctorate degree graduating magna cum laude from the University of Houston in 1976.
