About Peter Sloss
Originally from Chicago, Peter attended Tulane University for both his undergraduate and law degrees. He received his bachelor’s degree from Tulane in 1982, and then went on to receive his J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 1985. Remaining in New Orleans upon graduation, he was a founding member of Murphy Rogers in 1992.
Peter’s practice involves commercial litigation in a wide variety of contract, partnership, product, warranty, construction and insurance coverage disputes, as well as a full range of maritime litigation, including personal injury and death claims, seaman wage and contract disputes, charter party disputes, marine insurance coverage issues, collision, allision and cargo damage claims, as well as administrative and regulatory matters involving the United States Coast Guard, customs and immigration matters.
A long-time volunteer with The New Orleans Pro Bono Project, Peter was awarded a Distinguished Service award by the Pro Bono Project in December 2010 and a Pro Bono Century Award by the Louisiana State Bar Association in 2011. Peter is also a frequent presenter at Continuing Legal Education Seminars involving a wide range of litigation-related topics. He is a member of the Louisiana and Texas State Bar Associations, and the Maritime Law Association.
