About Paulette Carey

Paulette is Of Counsel to the Firm. She was born in Syracuse, New York in 1956. She received a B.A. and B.S. cum laude in 1978 from the State University of New York College at Oswego, and her Juris Doctor in 1983 from New York Law School.

Paulette was admitted to: the New York Bar, First Department in 1984; U.S. District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in 1989; and Federal 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in 1992.

Before joining the firm, Paulette held the position of General Counsel with Ko-Rec Type Corporation, a closely held, multinational corporation. In addition to addressing the general corporate matters of the corporation, she created an in-house intellectual property department.

Paulette joined the firm in March, 1989, concentrating on intellectual property law, including copyrights, trademarks and unfair competition. She is skilled in computer research, which enhances access to records of U.S. trademark registrations and tradenames and enables her to provide clients with prompt responses as to availability of trademarks and supports preparation of trademark applications.

Paulette maintains a network of corresponding counsel around the world to assist U.S. clients in obtaining foreign registrations and has an active practice in prosecuting applications on behalf of foreign clients.

Besides trademark prosecution, Paulette attends to a variety of contractual obligations relating to trademark licensing and advertising and frequently assists clients with business formations and governance maintenance.
