About Paul Herman
Mr. Herman was born in New York City in December 1962. He also lived in Haiti and Puerto Rico but returned to New York to attend Xavier High School, graduating in 1979. Mr. Herman graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Fordham University in 1983. He attended Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, graduating in 1987. While in law school, Mr. Herman was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award in Criminal Procedure and earned the James H. Davis Scholarship. He also clerked with the Law Offices of James Davis throughout his second and third years.
After successfully passing the State of California’s Bar Examination on his first attempt, Mr. Herman was admitted to the State Bar of California on December 14, 1987. He was also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Central and Northern Districts of California in 1988. Mr. Herman’s initial practice was primarily in the areas of medical and dental malpractice defense, with such firms as Dummit, Faber & Brown and Baker, Silberberg & Keener. Mr. Herman then began his own practice. During this time, he had the opportunity to gather experience in a myriad of fields, including business and transactional litigation, personal injury, criminal defense, landlord-tenant disputes, unlawful detainer, and bankruptcy.
In 2002, Mr. Herman was introduced to Workers’ Compensation and presently practices exclusively in Workers’ Compensation Defense. The firm has grown to include multiple associate attorneys, each of whom is dedicated to the diligent and aggressive representation of the firm’s clients and to the skills required to be successful litigators.
As presently formulated, the Law Offices of Paul C. Herman concentrates exclusively on the defense of Workers’ Compensation claims, including the defense of Serious & Willful and LC 132a allegations. The office represents employers in all the Boards in the State of California.
