About Paul Aloe

Paul H. Aloe chairs the firm’s litigation and bankruptcy departments. His practice focuses on commercial litigation and trial practice, corporate bankruptcy, real estate and land use issues, constitution issues and corporate issues. In bankruptcy, he has a focus on small business reorganizations.

He is the past chair of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Civil Practice Law and Rules, was a member of the North Hempstead Zoning Board of Appeals for approximately twenty years. He has help craft numerous provisions of New York’s Civil Practice Law and Rules. Mr. Aloe handles a wide variety of litigation in both state and federal court, with a focus on commercial cases, and takes on many difficult litigation problems that at first blush may seem impossible to solve. While Mr. Aloe has no hesitancy to take a case to trial or pursue an appeal, he also recognizes that cost is often a significant factor in litigation and, where possible, maps out a strategy for prompt and efficient resolution of cases either through motion practice or negotiation. A significant portion of Mr. Aloe’s practice is focused on bankruptcy and corporate restructuring law, with a particular focus on the successful restructuring of closely held businesses. In addition, Mr. Aloe has handled groundbreaking cases concerning bankruptcy law dealing with cutting edge bankruptcy issues in numerous appellate courts. His practice also focuses on difficult bankruptcy litigations. Mr. Aloe has also handled a number of high profile employment related cases, including cases brought by the American Civil Liberties Union, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund Inc., and the EEOC. He has also represented high profile figures in sports law disputes. On the employment side, he has handled significant employment class action suits, including In re: Michael Stapleton Associates Ltd. Employment Litigation, in which the firm secured a $14.5M recovery for hundreds of security dog handlers. Mr. Aloe was the author of the Syracuse Law Review annual civil practice review from 1996 through 2010 as well as numerous New York Law Journal Articles, and has been an editor of Weinstein-Korn-Miller, New York Practice. Mr. Aloe holds an AV rating from Martindale Hubble and has been named a Super Lawyer by Thompson Reuters. Mr. Aloe is an accomplished triathlete and marathoner, having completed over 70 marathons, is a New York City Marathon Streaker (26 New York City Marathons) and has completed 10 Ironman triathlons.
