About Patrick Zitek

Patrick Zitek is an experienced and passionate attorney, negotiator and teacher. His primary law practice includes Trust Agreements, Asset Protection, Wills and Trust Agreements. 

As an Adjunct Law Professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, Patrick teaches Negotiation and Theories of Conflict. His Negotiation courses focus on integrative and distributive negotiation, decision making, persuasion, and influence.

His Theories of Conflict class studies Perspectivism, including Biological and Psychological perspectives (psycho-dynamic, social identity theory, displacement theory), Behavioral perspectives (learning theory and social confrontation theory), Communication perspectives, and Social Constructionist orientations towards analyzing conflict (both macro and micro views). 

Patrick is a coach of the Mitchell Hamline Negotiation Competition Team (since 2016), and was a coach of the Hamline University School of Law’s Negotiation Competition Team from 2010-2016.

During his Negotiation coaching career, several of Patrick’s teams have advanced to the Final (National) round of the American Bar Association’s Annual Negotiation Competition. This includes a 3rd place finish in 2013 and a 1st place finish in 2016. The 2016 Negotiation team was the first team of any Minnesota Law School to become the American Bar Association’s Negotiation National Champions.

Patrick’s Negotiation team won the 2017 World Championship in the International Negotiation Competition, held in Oslo, Norway. Most recently, the Mitchell Hamline ABA Negotiation Moot Court team won the Regional Competition, advanced to the national championship, and came in 2nd place in the country.
