About Mitchell Shapiro

I have spent the majority of my 25+ year career counseling clients on complex business matters and litigating both with and against major firms representing Fortune 500 Companies. A highlight was serving as co-lead counsel for the largest retailers & retail trade associations (Wal-Mart, NRF, FMI etc.) in the then-richest antitrust class action settlement in history, $3 billion from Visa & MasterCard on the eve of trial. I was responsible for hiring and supervising dozens of vendors, suppliers, contractors and coordinating the work of 60 co-counsel law firms and the coalition’s press and government lobbying initiatives for almost ten years. After that settlement, I was involved in a number of start-up ventures as an advisor, investor and in-house counsel while counseling a select number of clients. In late 2011, I returned to the full time practice of law, merged my firm with another small boutique, which combined entity quickly grew to a staff of 20 handling over 200 active cases and transactions that I managed for more than 60 clients. In 2015, I merged my practice into CLM, a 150 year old Wall Street law firm. I left CLM in 2017 to become in-house General Counsel of a client’s affiliated group of merchant cash advance companies. I have nine years of experience as general counsel for 3 different groups of companies and am currently in private practice and accepting new clients.

I have significant experience in fintech, payment systems, business funding and financing, company-partnership disputes, data privacy and security breaches, antitrust, trade regulation, restrictive covenants, employment, complex commercial matters, contracts and other agreements, intellectual property issues, arbitrations, class actions, complex commercial litigations, trials and appeals. My real specialty is simplifying complex issues and developing mutually advantageous solutions to challenges facing individuals and companies.
