About Michael Schein

Mr. Schein’s practice encompasses all aspects of bankruptcy, including out-of-court restructurings, debt restructurings, cross-border restructurings, financial transactions and litigation, with significant experience in a broad range of industries including transportation (automotive, railcar and marine), financial services, health care, telecommunications and biotechnology.

Mr. Schein represents secured creditors in all levels of the capital structure, including agents to and lenders in syndicated lending groups, debtor-in-possession lenders, second lien lenders, private equity, financial institutions, hedge funds, distressed-debt investors and acquirers in bankruptcy proceedings (including 363 sales). Mr. Schein further counsels clients on the state-of-play of intercreditors agreements and agreements among lenders, as well as on a wide variety of related corporate and financial matters for almost 25 years.

Mr. Schein is the founder and former Chair of the Financial Markets/IP Insolvency and Workout Section of the Licensing Executives Society. He is also a long-standing member of several professional associations, including the Maritime Law Association, where he is a member of the Maritime Bankruptcy and Insolvency Committee and the Marine Finance Committee, the Turnaround Management Association, and the American Bankruptcy Institute, where he is a member of the Asset Sales Committee, the Secured Credit Committee, the Technology and Intellectual Property Committee and the Health Care Committee. Mr. Schein has been repeatedly recognized in New York Super Lawyers, a peer-driven publication highlighting attorneys who have attained a high degree of professional achievement.
