About Michael Ortner

I grew up in Iowa. But after spending my early adulthood rambling from Iowa to Minnesota to California to Washington, I decided to make St. Paul my permanent home because, at heart, I’m still a Midwesterner. And after spending the beginning of my legal career primarily representing large corporations, I decided to go into private practice because I find it much more fulfilling to help regular people with the real problems that they unfortunately encounter from time to time. I take pride in devoting my time and effort to doing something I believe in and I want to use my talent, energy, training, and experience to help solve problems for real people like you. This is why Theresa and I started this law firm.

Before attending law school, I spent seven years working as a health insurance claims analyst for HMOs and indemnity insurers in the states mentioned above. My legal experience includes clerking for the Honorable Bruce D. Willis at the Minnesota Court of Appeals, and working for a prominent Twin Cities insurance-defense firm. In my free time I enjoy hiking, cycling, and attending alternative music concerts.
