About Michael Daponde

Mike is a 25-year litigator who focuses on representing managed care health plans and health insurers. He represents some of the largest health plans in California in matters involving provider payment disputes, regulatory enforcement, civil litigation, arbitrations, writ proceedings, and Medi-Cal rate disputes. Mike also advises health plans on a wide range of issues including the ACA, Knox-Keene Act compliance, Medi-Cal program changes, provider contracts, out-of-network payment obligations, and the actuarial Medicaid rate-setting process.

Mike is well versed in administrative law and procedure, having handled matters before state agencies including the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), the California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC), and the California Department of Insurance (CDI). He is experienced in all phases of litigation and he has argued successfully in state and federal courts. Mike has appeared before the California Supreme Court, state appellate courts, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals as counsel for amicus curiae.

Mike is a frequent speaker on topics such as managed care litigation, the ACA, and state and federal Medicaid law.
