About Melvin Dubinsky

After graduation from NYU Law School I was admitted to practice in NYS in 1962. Subsequently I was admitted to practice in the Federal courts located in NYC. This included the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. Later I was admitted to practice in the US Supreme Court. As an associate attorney with other law firms I engaged primarily in civil litigation and trials. In 1982 I proceeded with my own law practice and added appeals and criminal law to my range of services.
In addition I wrote a number of articles about litigation and trials for legal publications. As follows: Cross Examination – in the Queens [NYC] Bar Bulletin, The Practical Lawyer and the Practical Lawyer’s Manual or Trial and Appellate Practice; Opening Statement – The Practical Lawyer; Voir Dire for Selection of the Jury – Case & Comment; Preparation of the Client for Testimony – Law Books in Review; and lastly Making the Most of Graphics for Trial – in color in the August, 2012 edition of The Practical Lawyer.
The ‘Graphics for Trial’ article led to lectures that I gave at the NYC Bar Association and the NY County Lawyers’ Association. A separate lecture that I gave on the subject was posted on Lawline, an internet site for lawyers. The published articles and work done in my practice led to an invitation to give a lecture at Hofstra Law School. It was presented to a class on Legal Writing in October of 2016.
