About Mark Zimmerman
Mark R. Zimmerman is a Board Certified Criminal Trial Lawyer in private practice in Sarasota, Florida since 2000 (Board Certification is the highest level of recognition conferred upon an attorney by the Florida Bar; only 5% of all Florida lawyers are Board Certified). Mr. Zimmerman is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Florida College of Law. He has practiced criminal law in Sarasota County since 1991.
His background includes nine years of extensive trial experience as a state prosecutor in Sarasota County, where in he handled cases in the felony, juvenile and misdemeanor divisions.
During his career Mr. Zimmerman has served as the president of the Sarasota Chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; Chairperson of the Solo Practice Section and Member of the Board of Directors of the Sarasota County Bar Association; Member of the Twelfth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission; Master of the Judge John M. Scheb American Inn of Court; Member of a Florida Bar Twelfth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee; Member of the Code of Student Conduct Review Committee for the Sarasota County School Board; Teen Court Judge; Member of the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network.
Mr. Zimmerman is owner of the Laurel Building, the site of his law practice in downtown Sarasota. Mark and his wife Laurie Zimmerman, who is also a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, have two children, Charlie and Sophie, who both attend Sarasota County public schools. In his spare time, Mr. Zimmerman is a coach in Sarasota youth sports
