About Kimberly Kralowec

During her 28-year career as a litigator, Ms. Kralowec has handled class action matters involvingantitrust (price-fixing and monopolization), consumer finance (mortgage and auto), retail products(mislabeling and nondisclosure), employment (wage and hour and misclassification), and civil rights(Unruh Act).

Ms. Kralowec handles appellate-level work in class action cases on a regular basis.  She served as
lead appellate counsel for the workers in Brinker Restaurant Corp. v. Superior Court (Hohnbaum),
53 Cal.4th 1004 (2012), in which the California Supreme Court provided important clarifications of
California class action law.  She received a 2013 California Lawyer Attorney of the Year (“CLAY”)
Award in recognition of her work on the Brinker matter.  She has been selected by the Daily
Journal as one of the Top 100 Labor & Employment Lawyers in California as well as one of the
Top 75 Woman Lawyers (Litigation) in California. 

Ms. Kralowec publishes and lectures widely.  From 2003 through the present, Ms. Kralowec’s
primary publication has been The UCL Practitioner, a legal weblog covering the UCL, CLRA,
and class action law in California and the Ninth Circuit.  Past speaking engagements include
“Aggregate Proof or ‘Trial by Formula'” (The Impact Fund, February 2013); 8th Annual Advanced Wage
& Hour Seminar (California Employment Lawyers Association, May 2012); “The U.S. Supreme Court
Redirects Class Action Defense” (American Bar Association, March 2012); “The Potential Impact of Dukes on Class Certification in Antitrust and UCL Cases in the Ninth Circuit” (State Bar of California Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law Section, July 2010), “Antitrust Institute 2010: Developments & Hot Topics” (Practising Law Institute, May 2010), and “§17200: The Impact of Tobacco II Cases” (The Rutter Group, March 2010).

Ms. Kralowec received her J.D. in 1992 from the University of California, Davis, School of Law, and her B.A. in 1989 from Pomona College in Claremont, California.  In 1992-1993, she served as a judicial clerk for Judge David Mannheimer of the Alaska Court of Appeals.  Ms. Kralowec is admitted to practice in California, in all federal district courts in California, and in the Ninth Circuit.
