About Karen Kisch
I am an Attorney and a Mom in a blended family. One son from my previous marriage and 2 from my husband’s previous marriage. As a parent in a blended family I know how important it is to think about estate planning differently. While we are all very busy with work and family responsibilities and sometimes this puts items such as planning to protect our spouse and children in the event of our death or incapacity on the bottom of that to do list.
Estate planning isn’t always something we want to think about so we put it off. Most people haven’t prepared even a simple will or thought about who would raise their children in the event of their death or incapacity. We lack the time or maybe are concerned that the attorney’s fees will be too high for us to afford, others may think they don’t have anything to protect or that a family member will take care of everything if something happens in the event of their incapacity or death.
As an attorney and Mom I know that regardless of the amount of your estate everyone, especially blended families need proper estate planning. Because I believe this is an important subject for everyone but especially blended families and I understand the time and financial constraints we all face I have built a fully web-based estate planning firm. This means no need to get dressed up, no long drives to the attorney’s office, no trying to squeeze in a consultation in the middle of your work day. The web-based services allow us to communicate on your schedule. We meet via virtual meetings and exchange documents and communicate via our online client portal. We even have virtual signings of your documents. Here at Kisch Law we try to make this process as painless and enjoyable as possible by utilizing state of the art systems to ensure the most sophisticated estate planning product for our clients’ individual circumstance.
My credentials include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Oklahoma State University and a law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law. I have been a practicing Houston, Texas attorney since 1992. While in law school I gravitated toward estate planning and started my career in this practice area. I have practiced in other areas during my career but always come back to estate planning especially since I have become part of a blended family.
