About John Sterbick
My Grandfather, Joseph B. Lee, was an accountant and my mentor. I learned a great deal about the IRS from him at an early age. Both my father and my sister were also attorneys in Tacoma, Washington.
I studied Federal Tax Law at Seattle University School of Law in 1985. Upon graduation in 1988, I started my practice at Sterbick, Abel, & Sterbick.
Through my tax practice, I learned that many tax debts can be discharged through Chapter 7 bankruptcy or paid through Chapter 13. I began practicing bankruptcy law in 2009. My firm has discharged literally millions of dollars of IRS debt for my clients.
I am admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court, the United States District Court, and the Washington State Superior Court.
I am a member of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association and the Washington State Bar Association.
I am married and blessed with my wonderful wife and children. When I’m not doing things with my family in my spare time, I enjoy ballroom dancing and the game of golf.
My staff is composed of exceptional people who bring the same dedication to service and to helping our clients solve their legal problems with compassion and common sense that my Grandfather instilled in me all those years ago. We do our best to make complex legal issues understandable in plain language so that we can help our clients choose the best approach for their individual circumstances. For over 29 years, John A.
