About John DiPiano
Attorney John G. DiPiano is a compassionate advocate for his clients. He is also a skilled and successful litigator who doesn’t hesitate to take his client’s matters to court.
John is a North Shore native. After a number of years as a Senior Associate at well-regarded Lane, Altman & Owens, LLP in the financial district of Boston, he left to establish DiPiano Family Law Group P.C. Eventually, John decided to relocate his practice outside of the city, to the North Shore, in Salem, Massachusetts, largely because he believes that Boston-based firms with higher expenses cost clients more money without delivering added value in the quality of legal representation. Higher costs do not guarantee better legal representation.
He is a 1995 graduate of New England Law, cum laude, where he was published in the New England Journal on Criminal and Civil Confinement. He was also designated by Boston Magazine’s Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2006 and has been consistently recognized as a Super Lawyer every year since 2021. John has also been distinguished by Best Lawyers in America as a Best Lawyer in Family Law, as well as enjoying the same recognition in the 2024 edition of Best Law Firms®.
John is a member of the Essex County Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association.
He is past co-editor of Massachusetts Domestic Relations 5th Edition, a practice guide for attorneys and the courts to consult on Massachusetts family law issues, statutes, and case law.
John has been appointed by various courts as a Guardian ad Litem and as a Special Master. In addition to being an experienced and skilled trial attorney, he is also an experienced appellate attorney and a trained and experienced mediator providing paid mediation services and pro bono conciliation services through the Essex County Bar Association conciliation program. He has also lectured and participated in continuing legal education programs.
