About Jay Thakkar

Jay, a native of Brevard County, graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and minors in Entrepreneurship and Criminology. He continued his studies at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, earning his Juris Doctorate in 2010. During his tenure at the University of Florida, Jay was the co-founder of the Mock Trial Team affiliated with the Florida Pre-Legal Honor Society. While in law school, Jay clerked for the University of Florida Student Legal Services where he advised students on a variety of legal issues and became a teaching assistant for Trial Practice.

Jay has been recognized nationally as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers for the past four years (2015 through present). While up to 5 percent of the lawyers in a state are named to Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent are named to “Rising Stars”. Jay has also been the recipient of the Associate of the Year Award twice from Vassar B. Carlton America Inns of Court.

Jay is very active in both the local and state Bar Associations. Recently, Jay was elected to the Board of Governors for the Young Lawyers’ Division of The Florida Bar representing the 18th Judicial Circuit comprised of Brevard and Seminole County, an organization with approximately 30,000 members. Jay is the past president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Brevard County Bar Association and is currently on the Board of Directors for Brevard County Bar Association and Brevard County Legal Aid.
