About Ingrid Perez
Your immigration case is personal to me. I treat it like it is my own because it is.
I believe that every immigrant is a future American. Immigrants deserve empowerment and an opportunity to make their American Dream a reality. I hope we take this journey together and that I can offer you a successful outcome.
In 1994, my mother immigrated to the United States with her two small children – my brother and myself – in search for a better life. We settled in a small town in the suburbs of New York and began our new life. As a kid, I remember going through the cultural, financial, and language barriers that many of you face today. I also remember going through the immigration process, fearing the uncertainties while dreaming about the possibilities. We were very fortunate to eventually become lawful permanent residents. I was finally able to go after my American Dream.
I went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Hunter College and finally start my career as a public school teacher. I then graduated from Fordham Law School, passed the New York Bar, and started my legal career.
My passion for public interest and social justice led me to join The Legal Aid Society in New York City, where I defended hundreds of clients in Manhattan Criminal Court and New York State Supreme Court. I loved fighting for my clients. Many of them were immigrants facing criminal charges and often deportation. Defending their constitutional rights opened my eyes to our system of justice in ways that most lawyers don’t experience. It also gave me tremendous opportunity to hone my trial and advocacy skills, something that I find very useful in my immigration practice.
