Gerard J. Emig is a Shareholder at the firm. His practice areas include construction litigation, general/civil litigation, long-term care litigation, medical licensing, medical malpractice litigation, serious personal injury, and worker’s compensation. Mr. Emig is a member of the bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is admitted to practice in the federal courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia as well as the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Emig received his juris doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1984 and a degree in economics, cum laude, from the University of Maryland in 1980. Mr. Emig joined the firm in 1986 and became a shareholder in 1991. Mr. Emig frequently tries cases before juries in federal and state courts and has argued many appellate matters before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals and Court of Appeals, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and federal appellate courts.
Mr. Emig frequently gives lectures to bar associations, insurance companies and nursing homes on the topic of defending nursing home malpractice cases. He has the highest rating of “AV” from Martindale-Hubble and has regularly been named as one of “Washington’s Best Lawyers” in the area of the defense of civil lawsuits by the Washingtonian Magazine since 2004. He was elected as an Advocate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 2017. He is a former faculty member of Montgomery College, where he taught legal research.
