Cox Law Firm, P.C. is a professional corporation established in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina by George W. Cox, Jr., for the general practice of law, including real estate transactions, estate planning, insurance, homeowner’s associations and corporate formation.

GEORGE W. COX, JR.

George is a native of Virginia Beach and is a graduate of the University of South Carolina Law Center. He is knowledgeable and dedicated with 52 years of service and counting.

Cox graduated from the University of South Carolina Law Center and began the private practice of law in 1972. He is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia and a graduate of Old Dominion University with a B.A. degree in History. Cox practiced law in Columbia, South Carolina until 1983, when he moved to Myrtle Beach. He opened his office locally for the general practice of law in March, 1985, and has since formed Cox Law Firm, P.C., which is located at Oleander Office Centre, 4420 Oleander Drive, Suite 102, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Cox is a member of the Horry County and South Carolina Bar Associations and has presented Seminars on Builders’ Liability and Real Estate Contracts in the past. He is past president of the Horry County Bar Association, which has over 800 attorney members. He is also president of Global Title Insurance Agency, Inc., a South Carolina corporation. He was named Outstanding Young Man of the Year in 1980 by the Columbia Jaycees. Active in civic affairs and professional organizations, Cox was instrumental in organizing and chartering the Grand Strand Optimist Club, and is a member of that Club’s Board of Directors.

He presently serves as retained legal counsel for the Coastal Carolinas Association of Realtors; is past National President of the Professional Fraternity Association, a national organization which is comprised of 35 member fraternities representing over two million members from all professional disciplines, including medicine, insurance, business, pharmacy, law, architecture, music, engineering and education; is a past Regional Coordinator for Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International; and has served as past president of the East Columbia Optimist Club and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.

He was selected Associate of the Year for the Horry-Georgetown Home Builders Association in 1991, Affiliate of the Year for the Coastal Carolinas Association of Realtors, Inc. in 2000, and Affiliate of the Year for the Grand Strand Mortgage Lenders Association in 2004 and 2007. He is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Social Fraternity and a member and former Officer of International Executive Board of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International.

From 2000-2010, he was appointed to and served on the South Carolina State Athletic Commission by former Governor Jim Hodges. He is also past Chairman of the Board of the Youth Diamond Fund, a charitable foundation affiliated with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a Carolina League Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, and was formerly a member of the Grand Strand Mortgage Lenders Association. In addition, he served as an off-ice official with the ECHL Professional Hockey League with the Pee Dee Pride of Florence, South Carolina from 1995 until 2006.
