About Gene Hays
Mr. Gene E. Hays, Esq., is the Founder of Power Immigration Law, APC, a California Professional Corporation limited to the practice of Immigration and Nationality Law. Since 2006, Mr. Hays has represented clients in Immigration cases across the United States including southern and northern California, Arizona, Washington, Texas, Georgia, Maryland, and Massachusetts. From as early as 2009, Mr. Hays has also assisted colleagues in the field by providing key support in the areas of Motion Practice, Court Preparation & Appearances, and by serving as a counselor to less experienced Immigration Attorneys. Throughout the course of his practice, Mr. Hays has counseled criminal defense lawyers on the development of effective plea strategies to avoid mandatory custody and/or removal of non-citizens from the United States.
While the focus of Mr. Hays’ practice has been removal defense, Mr. Hays has achieved success for his clients in obtaining Lawful Permanent Resident Status in complex cases relating to section 245(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, Registry, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and U-1 Nonimmigrant status for noncitizen crime victims. Mr. Hays has also had the pleasure of guiding numerous clients through the Naturalization process, including U.S. Veterans who served in the Armed Forces during times of hostility and Clients with the extraordinarily complex challenge of seeking citizenship following birth abroad to a United States Citizen parent. No matter the issue, Mr. Hays stands ready to assist you through the process.
PUBLIC SERVICE/POLITICAL EXPERIENCE
Mr. Hays’ experience as a public servant enhanced his understanding of Immigration policy on a local level. From 2011-2012, Mr. Hays served as a Member of the Grand Terrace City Council and Governing Board Member of the California Redevelopment Agency. As a Councilmember and Redevelopment Agency Board Member, he had an opportunity to see first-hand how vital Immigration is for the future development and advancement of the Inland Empire.
EDUCATION & BAR MEMBERSHIP
Mr. Hays obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government from the University of Redlands and his Juris Doctor Degree from Western State University College of Law. He is admitted to the Washington State Bar, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and is licensed to practice before the United States Department of Justice, the Executive Office for Immigration Review, and all other related agencies.
