About Eric Langston

Eric Langston is an attorney with Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC where he represents clients in complex commercial real estate transactions, with creditors’ rights issues in bankruptcy scenarios, with landlord-tenant matters, and with regards to corporate governance. Mr. Langston previously worked in the bankruptcy and restructuring group of Kirkland & Ellis, LLP in Chicago, bringing that experience to his clients today. He regularly represents lenders in bankruptcy proceedings and also helps them explore out-of-court alternatives, including workouts and restructuring options.

Mr. Langston worked for seven years as a data scientist in the higher education industry prior to becoming a lawyer. This skillset is a benefit to Mr. Langston’s clients as he is an exceptional problem solver, finding unique solutions to the most complex matters. Most recently, quickly learning the laws relating to remote online notarizations and then conveying that process in a live webinar to lawyers across the state for the Iowa State Bar Association.

Mr. Langston was raised in Cedar Rapids where has been quick to reengage with the community. Most recently, Mr. Langston was recognized as one of the Corridor Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 Class of 2020. He is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association, Linn County Bar Association and is Vice President of the Linn Law Club. He is also involved in various activities relating to civil justice and community enhancement. In 2019, Mr. Langston was recognized at the Cedar Rapids Gazette Business Awards for his involvement in the largest expungement clinic in Iowa history, and continues to coordinate clinics in Linn County. Mr. Langston is involved in the United Way of East Central Iowa where he has served as a Site Coordinator for their VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistant) program. He is a member of Daybreak Rotary Club and serves on the board of directors for the Riverview Center. Mr. Langston is also passionate about the arts and is involved in the Cedar Rapids Concert Choral.

Mr. Langston is licensed to practice law in Iowa and Illinois and is a Notary Public in Iowa, with capabilities of remote notarization.
