About Douglas Nill

Doug Nill is uniquely situated to provide the agricultural law and litigation expertise required to represent farm clients and businesses. Nill was raised on a large farm and ranch operation in southcentral North Dakota and still assists with fall harvest. Nill has an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from North Dakota State University. Nill has worked as an editor of a farm business magazine – Farm and Ranch Guide – distributed in five midwestern states. Upon graduating from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, Nill served a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Donald E. O’Brien, Chief U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of Iowa, based in Sioux City, Iowa.

Currently Nill is a lead counsel in a consumer fraud class action on behalf of United States farmers against a multinational corporation resulting in a successful jury verdict and entry of a $52 million dollar judgment for farmers on April 2, 2002. Nill is also a lead counsel in a class action on behalf of Minnesota farmers alleging harm through suppressed market prices, when genetically modified corn intended only for livestock consumption contaminated corn for human consumption.

Nill was recognized in 2001 and 2002 by a national farm advocacy group as “one of the nation’s best attorneys” representing farmers in complex business litigation. He has also been recognized by his peers in Minnesota as a “Super Lawyer”. Nill has been published in the Hamline Law Review, Ohio Northern University Law Review, and Minnesota’s Journal of Law & Politics.
