About Desiree Borges

Desiree M. Borges Tosado is a partner at Zavala Law Firm New York, a firm of experienced immigration attorneys dedicated to assisting their clients in navigating the complex United States Immigration system.
Atty. Borges is licensed in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Texas and New York. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the Pontifical Catholic University School of Law in Ponce, PR; and her bachelor´s degree in Business Administration, major in Marketing, from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus.

Her legal experience includes civil and family law at the Law Offices of Jorge R. Jiménez; legislative, public policy and government affairs at Optim Group; and public service as the Director of Communications and legal adviser to the Director of the Employee Retirement System of the Government of Puerto Rico.
Following her move to Texas in 2016, she focused her practice in immigration law and has since acquired vast experience. Atty Borges has worked for a community-based not-for-profit organization and two recognized immigration law firms. Some of her most notable work has been litigating cases in immigration courts across the United States.

Atty. Borges joined Zavala Law Firm, PLLC in Houston, TX in 2019. Since then, she has become an essential member of the legal team at Zavala Law Firm where she fiercely represents clients before the Immigration Court, Asylum Office, United States Citizenship and Immigration Offices, and the Board of Immigration Appeals. She prides herself in harnessing her passion and drive by diligently assisting and counselling clients in complex cases such as bond cases, asylums, appeals and many other forms of relief.

Most recently, Atty. Borges moved to New York City where she will continue to practice in immigration law by leveraging the combined experience of Zavala Law Firm for the benefit of our clients.

Atty. Borges is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyer Association (AILA) and the Juris Doctorate Military Spouse Network. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors, running and cycling; as well as spending time with her family and a good cup of coffee.
