About David Redding

When a client comes to see me, I know that there are four critical pieces of information he will need before he decides to hire us. The first is a threshold question: Can our litigation team help him with his problem? If we can’t, then the other three don’t matter. But if we can help him, the client will need to know the next three things. First, the expected duration of litigation. Second, its probable cost. Third, the likely outcome based our experience. At TLG Law, we work very hard on forecasting duration, cost and outcome because we know that the client can’t make good decisions without that information.

Dave graduated from Wake Forest University and began his practice in Winston-Salem and Asheville, North Carolina before settling in Charlotte in 1999, where he has been ever since. Although he started as a criminal defense attorney, he quickly found himself moving toward complex civil litigation. Over the last twenty years has has tried dozens of jury trials and taken several cases to state and federal appellate courts on complex issues involving indemnification, liability limitation and the uniform commercial code.

In 2007, Dave founded TLG Law as a solo practice. Since then, the firm has steadily expanded as the city it serves has undergone phenomenal growth, which has provided Dave with many opportunities to help his clients through their legal disputes.

In 2018, Dave was selected by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly as Lawyer Of The Year, an award that honors practicing attorneys who have gone above and beyond to serve their profession and their community.

In 2019, he was also recognized by the North Carolina Bar Association as a Citizen Lawyer who volunteers his time for worthy community and civic causes to improve the quality of life of those in his community and inspires other lawyers to invest their time and talents in service-oriented activities.

Dave is the founder and primary contributing author to The Missional Litigator, a website dedicated to the philosophy and techniques of effective litigation.

Prior to attending law school, Dave served in the United States Army as an Infantry and Special Forces officer. He is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and a former member of the board of directors for Operation Enduring Warrior, a veteran-founded non-profit organization that honors, empowers and motivates the nation’s wounded military and law enforcement veterans through physical, mental and emotional rehabilitation.

Dave is also the co-founder and current CEO of F3, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the invigoration of male community leadership through fitness, fellowship and faith. Dave is the author of Freed To Lead: The Unshackling of the Modern Day Warrior and the QSource: The F3 Manual of Virtuous Leadership. He is also the founder and primary contributor to The Collision Learner, a blog focused on wisdom gained through failure, adversity and argument.
