About Dave Albo
I am a Virginia State & Local Government Relations attorney. People hire me to help them with Virginia government issues.
I learned how the Virginia General Assembly, Virginia government and local governments work the hard way — I was an elected official IN the government helping to run the state. For 24 years, I served as an elected member of the Virginia House of Delegates (1994-2017). During that time, I was Chairman of the House Courts of Justice Committee (aka Judiciary Committee) (2006-2017). Prior to that, I served as Chairman of numerous sub-committees including Air, Water and Waste (aka Environment); and Alcohol, Gaming, and Tobacco. I was also on the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission and the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission.
This first hand experience has given me direct knowledge on how to pass a new law, how to kill a bad law, how to get government help, how to stop government from adverse actions, and even how to win business from State and Local governments.
Since 2017, I have been helping clients navigate the complicated world of government and make government work for them. Here are just a few examples of how I have recently helped my clients:
I helped pass a law that limited the number of years (statute of limitations) my client could be sued by the government.
I helped kill a bill for a client that would have dramatically increased government regulations, and thus dramatically increased costs.
I have helped a technology client prepare for a successful response to an RFP.
I helped amend a bill that originally would have barred my client from acquiring a license.
