About Christine Ranney

Christine Ranney is an associate in the Denver office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, and is a member of the firm’s Litigation department.  She focuses on patent and appellate litigation and has experience in a range of arts and practices, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, telecommunications, and consumer electronics.  Ms. Ranney has experience in all phases of litigation from pre-suit diligence to appeal, including working with experts and defending expert depositions, drafting dispositive motions and appellate briefs, arguing motions in limine and a Markman hearing, and conducting direct and cross-examination of expert witnesses at trial.  She has participated in two ANDA bench trials, an ITC trial, and a jury trial, and secured favorable results for her clients in each, including most recently in two multi-billion dollar biotech litigations.  She also has substantial experience handling proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, including inter partes review and post-grant review petitions, often in parallel with ongoing high-stakes litigation.

Ms. Ranney currently serves as a member of the firm’s Associates Committee.  Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Ranney served as a law clerk to the Honorable Pauline Newman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  Before her clerkship, she was an analyst in a leadership development program at Merck & Co.  Ms. Ranney received her J.D., cum laude, from New York University School of Law in 2013.  Ms. Ranney earned her B.S.E in Chemical Engineering in 2008 from Princeton University.

Ms. Ranney is admitted to practice law in the States of California and Colorado and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
