About Carol Thompson

CAROL LYNN THOMPSON is a litigation partner in the San Francisco office. She has substantial experience representing clients in consumer class actions and has represented a diverse range of clients, including technology companies, financial institutions and food and beverage manufacturers in class actions involving unfair competition and false advertising claims, consumer legal remedies act claims and privacy claims. Carol Lynn also has extensive appellate experience, and has represented clients in numerous appeals and also has represented entities and industry groups as amicus curiae.

As a member of the firm’s Escheat Counseling and Litigation group, Carol Lynn also regularly represents clients in unclaimed property audits initiated by states and third party audit firms. She counsels clients with respect to compliance issues and has lectured on unclaimed property related topics. She has defended holders in litigation brought by states asserting violations of state unclaimed property laws, including the representation of clients in qui tam litigation premised on alleged failures to escheat unclaimed funds.

Carol Lynn was named a “Client Service All-Star” in 2014 by BTI Consulting Group. Benchmark Litigation recognized her as a “Future Star” in 2016 and 2017, a “Local Litigation Star” and California Litigation Star in the General Commercial category every year since 2017 as well as a “Local Litigation Star” in the Class Action category for 2020.
