About Brad Berman

Brad L. Berman began his career at a management consultant in the Energy, Environmental and Transportation group of Ernst & Ernst (today EY) in its National office in Washington DC.

After over 30 years practicing corporate and ship finance law in New York, Berman Legal LLC was formed in Connecticut in the Fall of 2018 to focus on the needs of key clients, as well as using his expertise to collaborate as a correspondent to foreign law firms.

Brad is admitted to practice law in the States of New York, Florida and Connecticut. He is known as a first-class corporate lawyer, with an equally outstanding expertise in shipping, maritime regulatory and finance law. In 2019, he was named by Best Lawyers as the Lawyer of the Year for Transportation Law in New York City.

As an experienced shipping lawyer, Brad has made significant contributions to the creation and drafting of the business associations and maritime laws of the Republics of Liberia and the Marshall Islands.

Few shipping lawyers can match Mr. Berman’s depth of experience in the financing of vessels with his expertise on international corporate and securities matters, debt and equity financing, initial public offerings, leveraged buyouts, international private placements, M&A, tax and private equity investments.
