About Bob Aaron
Bob Aaron was called to the Ontario Bar in 1972 and is a sole practitioner in the areas of real estate, wills and estates, corporate and commercial law, and landlord/tenant law.
The law firm of Aaron & Aaron was founded by Irving Aaron, Q.C., in 1930. Today it consists of Bob Aaron and a dedicated support staff.
Professional Involvement
Bob served as an elected a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada for 16 years and is now an ex-officio life Bencher. He has served on a number of Law Society Committees and also served as vice-chair of the Law Society Foundation and the Lawyers Fund for Client Compensation. In 1993 he founded the Ontario Real Estate Lawyers Association.
Publications & Presentations
Bob has presented papers to continuing education programs at the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association Institute, the Continuing Legal Education Society of Nova Scotia, the Toronto Police Service Fraud Squad, the Toronto Real Estate Board, the Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Real Estate Institute of Canada, Waterloo Regional Police Fraud Conference, Thunder Bay Law Association, the National Forum on Smoke-free Multi-Unit Dwellings, and the Greater Toronto Home Builders Association. He is a frequent media guest on radio and television, and has appeared on several segments of CBC-TV Markeplace, and CBC Radio The Current. He often writes legal opinions on real estate issues for other lawyers to use in litigation matters, and has been qualified as an expert witness in Ontario Superior Court.
In 2014, he received the first President’s Award of the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors. He is also the author of Real Estate Powers of Attorney, a chapter in Powers of Attorney and Capacity: Practice and Procedure, by Jasmine Sweatman, (Canada Law Book 2014) .
Since May, 2000, he has written more than 800 Title Page columns (now called Property Law) on Saturdays in the New in Homes section of the Toronto Star, and for more than 35 years wrote the Coins and Stamps columns in the Star.
Memberships and Appointments
Bob has served as board member and chair of the Multiple Dwelling Standards Association, a landlord organization; the Non-Smokers’ Rights Association, and the Smoking and Health Action Foundation.
Bob was a government appointee to the board of the Tarion Warranty Corporation from 2009 to 2011, and chair of its Consumer Advisory Council from 2011 to 2014.
