About Arthur Almquist

Arthur R. Almquist is a shareholder in the firm’s Houston office. His primary focus over his career has been the defense of mass tort litigation involving the petrochemical and refining industries. His years of practice in this area have resulted in extensive knowledge regarding OSHA and other governmental regulations covering the facilities as well as familiarity with best engineering, construction and operations practices in those facilities.

He also has had substantial experience in matters involving premises litigation, products liability litigation, toxic substances litigation, including asbestos and benzene. Throughout Mr. Almquist’s career, he has tried numerous product liability cases involving products from aluminum ladders to cranes to truck tires.

In the area of probate and fiduciary litigation, he has defended wills attacked on grounds of undue influence, lack of testamentary capacity, fraud and forgery. He has also successfully probated contested wills, including a simple holographic will that substantially changed the testator’s disposition of his estate. Mr. Almquist also has experience in the area of governmental liability in federal court cases and represented a Texas county in a substantial class action, brought by the American Civil Liberties Union that arose from the actions of the sheriff of the county.

In addition to appearing in both state and federal courts, Mr. Almquist has also successfully argued cases before the Texas Supreme Court, the United States Fifth Court of Appeals, and several other Texas Courts of Appeals. He is Board Certified in Civil Trial and Personal Injury Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been recognized for his outstanding work by organizations such as Best Lawyers^® (2013-2022) and Super Lawyers by Thomson Reuters (2005-2021).
