About Andrew Paley
Andrew’s practice focuses on defending employers in complex collective and class action litigations. Andrew is co-chair of the firm’s Wage & Hour Litigation practice group, chair of the firm’s California Wage & Hour Litigation group, and a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment steering committee.
Andrew has litigated for clients in the financial services, retail, hospitality, telecommunications, and insurance industries. These cases include claims alleging misclassification of employees as exempt or as independent contractors; “off the clock” and regular rate violations; denied reimbursements; miscalculation of commissions and bonuses; failure to pay prevailing wages; and meal/rest break violations. Andrew’s experience includes the defense of large, nationwide collective actions and multidistrict litigations. He also advises clients on conducting pre-litigation wage and hour audits. Additionally, Andrew assists clients with regard to wage and hour due diligence matters and potential exposure analyses in connection with corporate acquisitions and transactions.
Andrew is one of three authors of the definitive treatise on wage and hour litigation, Wage & Hour Collective and Class Litigation, and has written and lectured on numerous employment law topics. Andrew also has been a guest lecturer at the Stanford, Pepperdine, and Southwestern law schools. Andrew has been recognized by The Legal 500 (Legalese Ltd.) as a “smart, responsive lawyer who understands the needs of the business in addition to the subject matter of the litigation,” and was named one of the top labor and employment lawyers in California by the Daily Journal.
