About Amy Escott
Originally a woodworker and small business owner, I enrolled in Vermont’s 4-Year Law Office Study Program to pursue a longstanding interest in law. I spent four years clerking with the Honorable Judge Thomas G. Walsh, where I was immersed in land use and estate planning matters. Following my clerkship, I enjoyed two years at the Vermont Land Trust where I honed my real estate skills and gained extensive experience with conservation easements. After admission to the Vermont Bar, I worked as an associate attorney at the law firm of Monaghan Safar Ducham PLLC, expanding my practice to include LGBTQ+ issues, business, and family law. During this time I worked with the Pride Center of Vermont to start the first LGBTQ-focused legal clinic in the state.
Working as an attorney, it became apparent what a difference a good lawyer can make in people’s lives, and also, how difficult it can be for folks to access legal services. I decided to take a leap and launch a solo practice to broaden the reach of my services. The goal is to keep vital legal services as accessible and affordable as possible.
When I am not lawyering, I am outside, playing ice hockey, snowboarding, hiking, kayaking, or visiting my excellent nieces. I live in Hinesburg with my wife, Tamara, and our very fluffy cat, Izzy.
