About Amy Byer

Amy Byer grew up in the metro-Detroit area and received her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. After MSU, Amy lived in New York City working as a project manager for corporate office and commercial spaces. There, she gained priceless experience on how to pay strict attention to detail, to be thoughtful and listen, and how to work in a fast-paced environment. Amy later relocated back home to metro-Detroit, where she helped her parents run their long standing family business. Realizing she wanted higher education, Amy decided to enter law school . Despite starting a family during the first year in law school, Amy graduated, on time, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, cum laude.

Amy began her legal career in commercial transactions and commercial litigation. After realizing she was not utilizing her excellent communication skills, she focused her practice on family and domestic issues. There, Amy found her true calling – Amy takes pride in helping children and families transition into a new dynamic. Amy has 2 daughters and enjoys exercising and reading and in her free time.

I originally chose Ms. Byer due to her training in collaborative divorce. While my marriage was not lengthy and the divorce process not complicated, I still wanted to go through it with openness, respect, and efficiency. Ms. Byer was friendly and professional throughout the experience and made it as easy as possible, which was exactly what I was hoping for. She responded quickly to any email I sent or questions I had and was available to my spouse as well if he had questions. It was the exact tone I was hoping for and everything got handled as quickly and easily as possible. I would highly recommend her as a family attorney.

I was referred to Amy Byer by a colleague of hers who I knew from a previous business transaction. Needing a family lawyer is always stressful and never convenient; however, Amy made our transaction rather seamless. She tailored her service to my budget, provided the guidance, skill set and expertise that was appropriate for my needs. She answered questions timely, gave rational answers and discussed the if/then possibilities of an outcome. My experience with her legal advise gave me the confidence I needed to make good, solid, long term decisions for my family.
