About Alan Maestas
Alan Maestas is a highly regarded and sought-after trial attorney for both criminal defense and civil litigation. Maestas has a long history of taking on difficult and high-profile cases, very often generating successful outcomes for his clients.
Prior to entering private practice, Maestas worked for the State of New Mexico’s Attorney Generals Office in the Special Prosecutions section doing White Collar Crime and Public Corruption cases for the Public Defender’s Office in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and then he managed the Public Defender’s Office in Taos, New Mexico. He still resides in Taos where he practices law today.
Maestas received his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University in 1972. After graduation, he was commissioned as an infantry officer in the Army. During his military career, he served in Airborne, Special Forces, and Ranger units. His numerous medals include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the combat infantry badge, and a Purple Heart. He holds the distinction of being in charge of the 2nd Ranger Battalion when it conducted a parachute assault during the United States invasion of Panama.
Maestas believes that cases are best won through aggressive and comprehensive work prior to trial. His law firm is a full-service law firm with four attorneys. The firm frequently associates with other law firms to ensure cases are handled by people with the requisite experience and expertise.
