About Benjamin Sadun

Benjamin Sadun, partner, is a litigation privacy and cybersecurity specialist, nationally recognized for his expertise in artificial intelligence, health care technology, and class actions. In particular, Mr. Sadun is renowned for his successful courtroom advocacy for health and technology giants and emerging companies. This includes a complete defense victory as trial counsel for Johnson & Johnson in a 10-week jury trial profiled by Law360 as a “Legal Lion Verdict of the Week” and selected by the Daily Journal as among the “Top Verdicts” of 2019. Beyond the courtroom, Mr. Sadun has extensive experience representing clients before, and leading negotiations with, the Federal Trade Commission, State Attorney General offices, US Attorney offices, and Congressional Committees. Drawing on his trial and regulator experience, Mr. Sadun also advises companies on data governance as well as privacy and cybersecurity risk in consideration of the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the FTC Act, and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Mr. Sadun also teaches privacy law and information management to law students at USC Gould School of Law. In 2023, Mr. Sadun was interviewed on the ESI Survival Guide podcast for his expertise in large language models and machine learning and profiled by Law360 in an article about Dechert winning Cybersecurity and Privacy Group of the Year. In 2024, Mr. Sadun led workshops and presented at conferences held in India and China concerning “The Intersection of AI and Privacy.”

In 2024, Mr. Sadun was recognized in “The 2025 Lawdragon 500 Leading Litigators in America,” an annual guide that identifies the nation’s leading trial lawyers. LawDragon has recognized Mr. Sadun for being one of America’s top litigators—across fields—and specifically recognized him for being among the nation’s top privacy litigators (one of the top twenty-six) and being among the nation’s top cybersecurity litigators (one of the top seventeen). He has also been recognized by The Legal 500 in the areas of Product Liability, Mass Tort and Class Actions (2022), Pharma and Medical Devices (2023), Consumer Products (2023-2024), and Cyber Law (2024).

Mr. Sadun has been especially lauded for his work counseling Flo Health, with Dechert winning IAPP’s 2022 Privacy Legal Innovation Award for Mr. Sadun’s work helping Flo Health develop and launch its groundbreaking “Anonymous Mode.” For this same work, Dechert has been short listed by The American Lawyer for 2023 Best Client/Law Firm Team.

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Sadun was a partner at another major international law firm. Mr. Sadun also maintains an active pro bono practice.
