About Anthony Gordon

I have been practicing law since I started as an articled clerk in Johannesburg in 1966. After graduating from law school in 1969, I joined the Department of Justice where I served as a state prosecutor and member of the Attorney-General’s prosecuting staff in both the Transvaal and Natal. In 1972, I practiced as an advocate at the Johannesburg Bar.

After emigrating to Los Angeles, California, I joined O’Melveny & Myers, where I served in the litigation department, gaining experience in large type cases such as the Coordinated Asbestos Insurance Coverage Cases in San Francisco and the Exxon Valdez trial in Alaska. I have been in my own litigation practice since 1995. Most recently, I obtained a judgment for a client in the United States federal district court for $3 million arising out RICO and misrepresentations. I recently attended the intensive mediation program entitled “Mediation for Litigators” at the prestigious Strauss Mediation Center at Pepperdine Law School. Given my experience in litigation, I believe that resorting to this strategy has become too costly and time-consuming. Consequently, mediation seems the most viable alternative to expensive litigation.
