About Andrew Thomas

Andrew J. Thomas, B.A., cum laude from UCLA (Honors: College of Letters and Science Honors Program; Dean’s Honors List; Pi Gamma Mu International Honors Society in Social Science and Political Science Honors Society). J.D., cum laude from the University of San Diego School of Law. During law school Mr. Thomas attended the Institute on Comparative British and American Real Property Law at Oxford University, and he was a staff member and contributing writer to the California Regulatory Law Reporter. Mr. Thomas served as a Law Clerk-Intern at the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District. He is a member of the State Bar of California; his federal bar admissions include the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the Central, Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of California.

 Mr. Thomas is a partner. He has experience in all phases of litigation, including federal and state jury trials, court trials, appeals, binding arbitration and mediation. Mr. Thomas has represented nationally recognized financial institutions in over 50 litigation cases and large real estate development companies in over 40 cases. Mr. Thomas has tried cases with damages claims of over $20 million. In pretrial motion practice, Mr. Thomas obtained a defense judgment for five clients in a real estate development lawsuit where the plaintiff alleged it had over $30 million in damages. In that same case, Mr.

Thomas obtained a judgment awarding his clients their attorneys’ fees and costs. Mr. Thomas also handles certain real estate transactional matters and he has represented the owners of office buildings in Carson, Pasadena, and Beverly Hills and the owners of other commercial and industrial properties throughout Southern California. In 2006, 2007 and 2008, the publishers of Law & Politics and Los Angeles Magazine named Mr. Thomas as one of Southern California’s Super Lawyers in the field of business litigation.

In 2008, he was also listed as in the Corporate Counsel edition of the Super Lawyers publication. Mr. Thomas has significant experience in complex litigation (i.e., cases with over 50 parties, more than 500,000 discoverable documents and large amounts in controversy). Mr. Thomas is a diplomat of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Trial Attorney Project (a program where Mr. Thomas tried four criminal jury trials as a temporary prosecutor).
