About Jeffrey Lipps
Jeff Lipps has handled complex commercial litigation for 30 years. Much of that work involves handling disputes (both pre-litigation and actual litigation) for major corporations. Jeff has actively participated in Court on commercial disputes pending in Ohio, as well as the States of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia. He has earned recognition as one of the Best Lawyers in America for Commercial Litigation, as an Ohio Super Lawyer for Business Litigation, and he is nationally listed in the Super Lawyers’ Corporate Counsel Edition as a top attorney in Business Litigation.
Jeff has handled various trials, evidentiary hearings, summary judgment proceedings, and appellate arguments for commercial clients. Recent representations have included representing a liquidating bankruptcy trust in pursuing over 70 cases against financial institutions for sales of mortgage loans which breached contractual representations and warranties and indemnification for claims that were settled in the debtors’ bankruptcy, a major insurance company in several state procurement challenges, several companies in trade secret and covenant not to compete litigation, and a major lottery vendor in a range of litigation matters. Jeff has also represented a bankruptcy debtor in an examiner’s investigation of its relationships with its nondebtor parent. Jeff also led the firm’s representation of a major automobile maker in federally mandated AAA arbitrations related to its terminated dealer franchises. Jeff was responsible for twenty-two of those matters in the States of West Virginia and Virginia. Jeff has defended various class action suits brought against financial institutions and defended and prosecuted claims arising out of commercial lending relationships.
Jeff has served on the Columbus Bar Association Grievance Committee and he is a past President of the Franklin Inn, a member Inn in the American Inns of Court.
