About Charles Schuetze Schuetze

Born and raised in the Midwest, Mr. Schuetze acquired his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Cornell College in 1977, and his law degree from the University of Iowa in 1982. He studied law in Germany at the University of Tübingen, under an Exchange Scholarship between the Universities of Iowa and Tübingen, in 1982-1983, and worked in the law department of the Dresdner Bank in Frankfurt, Germany in 1983. Mr. Schuetze began private practice in Anchorage, Alaska in 1984, working in business and financial transactions, income taxation and estate planning. In 1990, Charles obtained his master’s degree in taxation from the University of Miami, with a master’s thesis on family deferred payment sales transactions. Mr. Schuetze helped draft the 1994 Alaska Limited Liability Company Act and testified before the legislature on its behalf. In 2014 and 2016, the Legislative Budget & Audit Committee of the Alaska State Legislature retained Charles to testify regarding tax aspects of a proposed natural gas pipeline and liquefied natural gas facility. Mr. Schuetze has spoken at many seminars on tax, business and estate planning. Best Lawyers in America has listed Charles in the areas of Tax Law for the years 2013 through 2020, Corporate Law for the years 2013 and 2014, and as Anchorage Lawyer of the Year in 2013 in Corporate Law and in 2020 for Tax Law.
