About Maureen Bright

Throughout her legal career, Mrs. Bright has concentrated on technically complex business litigation matters in state and federal courts, arbitration and administrative proceedings, including issues involving a variety of business torts, contractual disputes, real property damage, construction litigation, and environmental matters. Mrs. Bright has been a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers for twenty years, is a recognized Super Lawyer in the area of Environmental Litigation and has been recognized as one of the top women litigators in the state. She has been a lead trial lawyer on a legal team that has secured jury verdicts among the ten highest in California on a number of occasions over the years, including the highest jury verdict in the state during a single year. In addition to litigation, she regularly renders advice concerning liability under various state and federal environmental laws. Mrs. Bright has extensive technical experience in the preparation of environmental assessment and remediation plans, oversees contaminated site closures under regulatory oversight, prepares site-tailored cleanup protocols and provides advice on environmental regulatory compliance.

Mrs. Bright received her law degree in 1978 from Loyola University School of Law, and her undergraduate degree in Architecture from the University of Southern California in 1972. Between 1972 and 1975, Mrs. Bright worked for Southern California Edison Company as an architect involved in the design and construction of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station and the Kaiparowits Generating Stations and the operation of the Mojave Coal Slurry Generating Station. She worked on a multitude of engineering related issues and participated in the preparation of the voluminous environmental impact statements affiliated with the respective permitting, construction and renovation of these plants. Mrs. Bright joined Bright and Brown as a partner in 1982.
