We represent clients in a variety of employment matters in the academic setting (see Employment Law section below), including internal tenure appeals and academic freedom cases. We also provide consultations to faculty bodies about revisions to their Faculty Handbooks.
Because we enjoy writing and legal argument, we represent clients in appeals in matters as varied as administrative review, commercial litigation, and unemployment compensation.
We advise employees and small businesses in a wide array of employment law matters, including compliance with state and federal employment laws as well as the drafting of employment agreements and policy manuals. Our aim in employment consulting is to assist employers and employees in establishing fair and clear policies that help eliminate the necessity of litigation.
We represent clients in litigation of retaliation and discrimination cases, including those based on race, national origin, gender, sexual harassment, sexual orientation, age, disability, and religion. We also litigate Family and Medical Leave Act as well as whistleblower cases. Whenever possible, we favor amicable resolution of disputes through settlement conferences, negotiation of severance agreements and mediations.
We advise physicians and physician groups on both employment contracts and independent contracting relationships. We frequently negotiate the terms of physician employment contracts on behalf of physicians and healthcare professionals.
