About Robert Massey
Since 1983, Mr. Massey has been trying cases mostly in the southern Middle Tennessee area in both state and federal courts. From 1987 to 1992, he served as the public defender for the 22nd Judicial District.
Mr. Massey is active in both professional and civic affairs giving service with honesty and integrity and having served as an officer and board member of various civic and charitable organizations, including the Exchange Club and the Middle Tennessee Council for the Boy Scouts where he serves on the board of directors and from which he has received the Silver Beaver Award.
He has also been recognized by his peers throughout Tennessee for his work to advance the rights of criminal defendants — he has received the Robert W. Ritchie Award on two occasions (1992 and 1993).
He remains extremely active as a life member of both the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (TACDL) and the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA). He has served on the board of directors for TACDL on three occasions for a total of nine years and is a past president of TACDL, having served in that capacity from 1993 to 1994. He also served on the board of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association from 2000 to 2005. His practice is equally divided between civil litigation and criminal defense in both state and federal courts.
